Airbnb is teaming up with the owners of Casa Vicens, the first home designed by Catalonian architect Antoni Gaudí, in order to open the historic site up for a one-night stay. Design fans should pay close attention to this historic and incredible event.
Casa Vicens Gaudí host Emili shared: “We are excited to give guests the opportunity to experience this house as Gaudí designed it – as a nature oasis. We are deeply committed to the preservation of Gaudí’s cultural heritage and it will be a great pleasure to share the building’s secrets and rich history with whoever books.”
The home was originally designed as a summerhouse in 1885 for a local family and now serves as a museum dedicated to Gaudí and all of his work in design in the entire region.
The guests who will stay in the home will be personally greeted by Emili who will also provide an exclusive tour of the home while sharing secrets, insights, and historical facts about the project that has recently been restored.
The home is well renowned as being one of the first buildings created in the Art Nouveau movement and is Gaudí’s first ever commission. In 2005, the home was declared to be part of UNESCO World Heritage.
While the home will be used as an Airbnb it will be closed to the public. The team said this will allow the experience to “giv[e] guests unprecedented access during a socially distanced exploration of Casa Vicens and its signature blend of Moorish, neoclassical, and organic forms.”
After the tour, guests will be served a Gaudí- inspired Michelin star menu in the dining room. The room will feature never before seen decorative touches. After dinner, a nightcap will be served in the stunning smoking room. Guests will then be able to sleep in the Vicens main bedroom. After a restful night of sleep, guests will be served a Mediterranean breakfast al fresco in the private city garden.
However, this visit won’t be easy to secure. Bookings open for a one-night stay for a group of two guests. Bookings will be made on a first-come, first served basis. The stay will cost just 1 euro as a symbolic value so that the booking can be made through Airbnb’s website.
